Time Warner Cable Offers Programs Online, and Primetime On Demand

Time Warner Cable now presents primetime programming On Demand. Subscribers may tune into channel 516 to access various hit shows from networks including CBS, NBC, FX, and USA. The new service became available on February 23.

“Primetime On Demand is a mix of more than 70 hours of television’s most popular shows with programming content from established networks,” stated Time Warner Cable Northeast Ohio Division President, Steve Fry. “This unique channel complements our Entertainment On Demand portal by providing more of the quality programming our customers have come to expect.”

Time Warner subscribers will have access to primetime television’s most popular programs, including CBS’ CSI Miami, Survivor, and Big Brother; USA’s Burn Notice, Psych, and Monk; and NBC’s The Biggest Loser, Heroes, and Knight Rider.

For HD fans, many of the shows available with Time Warner’s On Demand service will be offered in high definition on channel 544.

In addition to providing new On Demand services, Time Warner will also be releasing its programming online. Hoping to stay competitive with online television sites, such as Hulu and YouTube, Time Warner will allow subscribers to access TV programs when they want, the way they want via Internet.

Cable companies, such as Time Warner, have to perform a balancing act to preserve their business while still acknowledging the online video phenomenon. According to a survey by Leichtman Research Group, approximately 34% of adults with Internet access at home watch videos on a weekly basis. Two years ago, only 25% of adults watched television online.

"A TV-everywhere solution could give consumers more for their money while also helping to preserve the current business model that is generating and delivering popular branded shows viewers want," stated Time Warner Inc. Spokesperson, Keith Cocozza.
